Riding School Terms & Conditions
Please familiarise yourself with our terms and conditions prior to booking a lesson at Canaan Farm.
-
To ride at Canaan Farm we require you to provide your own correctly fitted hat and boots. Body protectors are highly recommended but not compulsory.
Current safety standard for hats are PAS015 (2011), VG1 O1.040 (2014), ASTM F1163 (2004), SNELL E2016, AS NZS 3838 (2006), EN1384 (2023). -
Lessons are booked via our reception, payment is required to secure the booking. Lessons remain open to all until payment is received in full.
-
We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy.
If bookings are cancelled with 48 hours notice the payment can be held over or refunded minus any charges. If bookings are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice full payment is charged. -
If we are running behind time you will still get your full lesson time.
-
If you arrive late for your lesson you will receive whatever time is left for that slot and we will still finish on time.
-
If you are riding in a group and arrive more than 10 minutes late for the session you will miss that slot, it is unfair on the other riders to stop during the lesson after they have warmed up.
-
If needed we may ask you to mount in a different area to get ready for your lesson to start.
-
On arrival please wait in the reception/viewing area. Your instructor will call you in when ready.
-
Lessons are on a first come first served basis. You may book as many lessons in advance as you like but to secure these must be paid in full.
-
Age - Riders must be 4 years and over.
-
Safety Disclaimer - a disclaimer must be signed prior to riding, to be completed by parents or guardians for riders under 18.
-
Assessment - Please do not be offended, we will ask your height, weight and riding experience at the time of booking. This is for your safety to ensure you are matched to a suitable horse/pony.
-
Weight limit - We do not have a set limit (with the exception of hacking our limit is 12 stone). We appreciate that a riders experience and balance also has to be taken into consideration along with weight. We have a large horse suitable to carry weight, please contact Hayley to discuss confidentially on 07494 295360.
-
Weather - All lessons in Autumn and Winter take place in our covered, large indoor school. During Spring and Summer some lessons take place in our outdoor ménage. It is therefore extremely unlikely that a lesson will be cancelled for adverse weather.
-
Lesson Cancellation - At times our instructors and our horses and ponies can become unwell. If we have to cancel your lesson we will contact you by telephone and your payment will be moved to the next lesson.
-
Canaan Farm has a zero tolerance policy against rudeness and bullying towards our staff and other customers.
Thank you, Canaan Farm.
